Do you too?
Well, you've come to the right place.
I have been obsessing over Lanvin Fall 2011 collection since I saw it.
Especially the rose necklace.
Perfect for special occasions. Isn't it`?
Perfect for special occasions. Isn't it`?
Well, not the price. Let's not talk about the specific numbers, shall we?
So how can ordinary people like you and me afford it?
By DIYing.
Obviously.
Let me walk you through the whole process.
For this project you will need:
I used Maston's that I got from a hardware store. I digged around the art supply store too, but they had only soft gold spraypaint. For a more authentic look I would recomment shiny "bling-a-bling" gold spraypaint, But hey, do it as you wish.
2. Some artificial flowers.
Two to be exact to imitate the original. I got them from Karnaluks. Astore, which you might already be familiar with if you're not a new reader. THE best store to find crafty things for your projects if you live in Tallinn. The flowers I got are actually made to be brooches so they had the pins for securing. For a really fast project. Wohoo.
3. A piece of felt.
For attaching your flowers
4. Ribbon of your choice.
I chose velvet fibbon, 1 meter. I'm kind of obsessed over velvet right now. No harm in that addiction fortunately.
Additionally you need scissors, rubber gloves (to protect your hands and to forestall the nickname Goldfinger. Well, it actually doesn't sound that bad), a needle and thread (or glue), old newspapers and (pay attention to this) a LOT of fresh AIR, cause of the spray fumes. Even balconies have less air that you will be needing. The last part I got wrong and was high for the rest of the night. Hight unintentionally, I correct myself, winkwink. But no seriously, drugs are bad for you kids.
So let's get it on.
First step: Lay down your old newspapers, put your gloves on and start spraying your flowers according to the instructions on your spray. Let them dry.
Step two: Place the dry flowers on your piece of felt and figure out the position you would like to see them. Cut out a figure with two circles with diameters smaller than your flowers if you don't want the felt to be seen.
Step three: Glue/sew your ribbon to your shape. I cut small lines for the ribbons, pulled them through the cuts and sewed them by hand togeher.
Step four: Pin (the picture below)/sew/glue the flowers in place, some magic and pronto.
You are done!
The result was given to my dear friend as a birthday gift.
There's nothing better than homemade gifts. So true.
Her skincolor, manrepellerish hair and big personality are a true match with this necklace.
Here is the hero of the night wearing the DIY Lanvin necklace.
Hope you liked it Valentine.
